INSIDE BATHROOMS

In our next issue of art-is-life, we will show you what happens when aspiring, international designers are invited to create the ultimate in bathroom components -- bathtubs, toilets, sinks, showers, faucets and all-in-one space savers.  We think you will be surprised.

The Southwest School of Botanical Medicine

This is the best site on the internet for exquisite color plates of botanicals you can print out and frame. The site has hundreds of elegant lithographs, as well as vintage color illustrations and pen and ink drawings. Here's what to look for when you get to the site:

Color Illustrations - elegant lithographs
Color Illustrations by the National Geographic Society - 1915-1924
Black and White, Pen and Ink Drawings by Mimi Kamp

And, there are 19th century and early 20th century texts on eclectic medicine.  A great site!

Nasturtiums

by Audrey Regan

High on the Art-is-Life terrace overlooking Toronto, I plant everything that I happen to love.  Even if the conditions aren't ideal for a certain plant or shrub, I plant it anyway and try to make it work.  The blast of colour that greets me every morning when I step outside with my coffee is the reward. Holding a prominent place in the Art-is-Life "fiesta garden" is the nasturtium.  I love this flower and cannot say enough about it.  But let me try.

Decorating with The Flags of The World

The first in a series on "Banner Art"

_________________________________________________

Flag of Barbados .. Scottish Rampart Lion Flag .. Flag of Barbados

We went searching for banners and other fabric art, such as kites, tapestries, religious and cathedral hangings, and even Japanese kimonos (next issue!), but nothing we found could compare with the flags of the world, for sheer impact and simplicity. Each is a work of art and, when combined, the results can be sensational. We will offer suggestions for hanging flags in your home, apartment or loft. Each flag is three feet by five feet in size. All of the treatments we will show you are easy to accomplish, even for those with minimal do-it-yourself skills.
