back

Having curated the last exhibition at my New York city gallery in 1998, I turned to the internet to discover art and I launched art-is-life.com to share my discoveries with others.   That was over ten years ago - before the prevalence of blogs and the popularity of social networking sites; but I was impressed by the number of artists who had their own websites - they were pioneers.  Today, of course, it would be hard to find a productive artist whose work is not available for viewing online.

In 2009, the art-is-life website was lost due to the crash of our hosting company's servers.  At the  time, we were editing directly from the site and we did not have updated files in our hard-drive.   Art-is-life.com had been receiving over 200,000 visitors a month, due in no small part to the sheer size of the website which included categories for all the disciplines including fine art, dance, music and writing, as well as design and fashion. We restored the homepage with contact info, and people from all over the world sent emails asking what had happened to the website.

Welcome to our resurrection.

The artists featured in volume one are welders, painters, photographers and whittlers - with interests in archeology, architecture, bibliography, nature, pop culture and technology.  Also included are North American Indian ledger drawings - specifically those created in the 1890's by Silver Horn, a Plains Indian, with the ledgers of the U.S. Army as his canvas.  Please take time to visit the artists' websites by clicking on their names where they appear.   When you click on Silver Horn, you will be taken  to The National Anthropological Archives website at the Smithsonian.

Thank you for visiting. Please share our link with friends via Facebook, MySpace and other networking sites to which you belong.    You can find the "share" buttons   here.                 Audrey Regan
