Get started
You’ll require to create an account on Steam.. Once you’ve completed the sign-up process, it’s time to get down to business!
When creating your steam art, it’s important to keep in mind that there are some limitations on what you can do with your avatar. For instance, users are not allowed to use any third-party assets or copyrighted content. For more information on this topic, check out Steam’s Terms of Service.
Now that you’re done reading about the rules and regulations of creating a steam art, let’s get started! To begin making your art, navigate over to the Workshop tab in-game. After choosing where the image will appear on your creation (head, breastplate), move onto painting different features of the face with different colors and patterns using brushes specific for each part of the face.
To start creating your steam art, you’ll need to create a free account on Steam.
1. Choose a face template.
2. Upload the picture of your face you want to use.
3. Define the features of your avatar with a few easy clicks.
4. Set the color palette and add in some accessories.
5. Save and share!
Make Your Design
The first move is to create your design. You can do this by looking at other artists’ steam art, drawing your own face with the Steam paint tools, or even creating an avatar in one of the many games on Steam.
Next, open Photoshop and create a new canvas. You can either use a square or rectangular shape. Make sure your canvas is at least 800×800 pixels wide and 400×400 pixels high.
If you’re making a portrait-type steam art, set the foreground color to black and the background color to white. If you’re making an other-type steam art (like a tree), then set the foreground color to green and the background color: blue.
Once you have your design drawn, type in “STEAM ART” into the search bar at the top of the Steam page and select “START A NEW PROJECT”. From here, you’ll be able to browse different tutorials for making your artwork.
Share your art
Once you’re done, share your digital self-portrait on social media with a picture of what you’re wearing and a caption about your artwork. You can also follow other members to see more of their art!
Once you’ve created your steam art, keep the fun going by sharing it with friends and family. You can post it on social media, or save it to your computer in case you want to edit or share that art in the future.
